Diary note 41: Archipelago

23 VIII 2021

Travelled all the way into the deep East.

At Klashorst in a discarded factory a most ambitious dance was performed under the title ‘Archipelago’.

An interesting central sculpture had been created by the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto and was inhabited by a tribe of dancers in white costumes, symbolizing a survival species of mankind after the collapse of civilization. Language had been eliminated but primitive forms of communication had remained. The whole was animated by sometimes interesting sounds, which never rose to the now absent idea of music. A special choir from Oslo produced animalistic rhythms.

To me the whole showed little development and half-way I hoped it would soon culminate, which it did not.

Thunderous applause by an enormous crowd of believers in dance, or perhaps vaudeville.
