An afternoon diving
underneath waving arches
where refractions slant
One measured one’s breath
to unlimited depths
The sun befriended
our untaught bodies
as we dried on hard heather
Sex was still voiceless
the landscape without rim
Nothing was spoken
as we circled together
to find our mirror
So lies the soft mystery
of a heaving navel
As you touched me
a weightless language
averted my answer
You pointed to your mouth
that could not speak nor hear
What you learned at school
the deafdumb’s clinic
was the wisdom of fingers
