Het Huis van LorentzThe first house owned by the author in the Netherlands. A meditation on the age of the house that was already inhabited before 1600.
The transformation of the house, joining it with a neighbouring house with a stepped gable. Its interior becomes an example of local Louis XVI style. The destruction of the interior in the seventies and the reconstruction of the eighties.
Memories of Lorentz and Einstein. The importance of historical continuity would become the main theme in De les van Plantijn (inaugural lecture, Erasmus University, Rotterdam 1994).

Het Huis van Lorentz was printed by Cornelis Schenk, Leiden. The publication appeared as a gift to friends and acquaintances of Antiquariaat Klikspaan on New Year’s Day 2007.

Het eerste huis in eigen bezit in Nederland. Ouderdom van het huis, al voor 1600 bewoond.
De verbouwing van het trapgevelhuis, verheeld met een vergelijkbaar buurhuis, tot een voorbeeld van Nederlandse Louis XVI-stijl. De verwoesting van het interieur in 1974 en de reconstructie in de jaren tachtig.

Het Huis van Lorentz werd gedrukt door Cornelis Schenk, boekdrukker te Leiden. Deze uitgave verscheen ter gelegenheid van Nieuwjaar 2007 speciaal voor vrienden en relaties van Antiquariaat Klikspaan te Leiden.
